Review:
Shortly before getting married, my then-fiance was moving stuff into my apartment with her mom, when from the other room she heard her mom say, “uhhh, what’s this?” in a way which suggested the discovery of a trove of less-than-savory so-and-sos.
She had opened the hall closet and was at that moment faced with a harrowing vision, indeed: A titanic tower of cardboard containers, the robustness of which could be relied upon to provide substantive defense against even a more determined armed assailant.
Nothing my fiance could say could allay her mother’s suspicions that this was what her future son-in-law had elected to invest his vast fortune into, and that he seemed to have singularly staked his future (and now that of her daughter’s) on the appreciation of these assets.
In reality I have always enjoyed a good relationship with my in-laws, though the discovery did truly take her aback. While her husband collected guitars, a collection of this type (or even the existence thereof) she had no frame of reference for.
So, suffice to say that I am no stranger to the precarious stacking of games, and the questionable structural integrity of several boxes bear witness to the risky nature of the practice. But perhaps even more tragic was that nobody ever saw this engaging patchwork tapestry of alluring entertainment options, as the precarious unsightliness of the stack unilaterally relegated it to the deepest oubliette.
However! With the heralded arrival of the BoxDuke, emissary of the BoxKing himself, these nightmarish spectres were forever banished from my realm that very day.
Let me now regale you with the tale of how this came to be.
//START TALE
A NEW RESIDENT
The BoxDuke arrived at the gate of my residence, and the doorman promptly escorted him to his new residence in a corner suite of my estate (currently undergoing renovations):
It was evident that great care had been taken by the BoxKing in ensuring that the BoxDuke arrived safely and traveled in white-glove luxury. Not an inch of space wasted, and each component was carefully secured as though babes, each one individually swaddled softly as with a cloud:
(This should go without saying, but I state it still: All needed hardware was included. BoxKing be praised.)
THE ASSEMBLY
Commensurate with the wisdom that the BoxKing demonstrated in their travel accommodations is the skill with which they have prepared instructions for the construction of the BoxDuke, as well as in his very design. (Oh? Were your ears as well piqued by the hushed whispers amongst the cloisters that he is a being not of flesh but of steel? We can personally attest that this is indeed so.)
The components each are of exceptional quality! The steel, though unyielding, has a coating-treatment upon it which causes it to feel somehow soft. They possess a pleasing heft that one might call “luxuriant”, and utters a dulcet tone when struck that one might describe as “royally resonant”.
But now, something which I wish to be certain to draw your attention to! Verily, I will state that it may be worth the expenditure simply for this! There is a particular design innovation which drastically reduces the stress one might expect while attempting to connect the four steel columns to their stout plastic platforms: Next to the holes through which the screws go there are two protuberances (“nubs”, in parlance). These nubs serve to stabilize the columns wonderfully, ensuring that there is not the slightest wobble as you are threading the two screws to each end.
And lo, marvel and miracle! With such alacrity did I accomplish the task of assembly that it seemed a dream, and with such ease that I never even needed to refer to the prepared instructions! (though I did indeed review these texts, and may it be said that, should one need to avail oneself of them, they are clear of image and concise of prose. BoxKing be praised.)
AFTER ASSEMBLY
The completed frame of the BoxDuke now stood before me! I admired it fittingly, then began to plan on how best to engage him in the service for which he was created: That of the safe and stylish presentation of my curated collection of board games.
The many notches in the columns allow for the ad hoc (and secure!) insertion of shelves at variable heights with which to accommodate different size boxes, be they thick or be they thin. And so I labored to display my collection in a way most presentable:An unmitigated success! BoxKing be praised.
//END TALE
As you may well gather, I quite like this product and the experience of its assembly.
The only “negative” I might have to offer is that with each new wire shelf you add, it can make adding another incrementally more difficult due to increasingly more awkward angling involved to get the holes for the shelves to align perfectly. My wife adds that being a very “open-ended” system with a lot more breathing room than say a Kallax shelf may mean that you have to dust your games a bit more often, and on other sides normally not exposed.
But games have never been so attractively presented, and they will remain in better condition now that they have a home in a more temperature and humidity-controlled environment (and now that they aren’t crushing each other).
I also have no concerns about the longevity of this solution, as I’ll probably be handing this down to my progeny. And as my collection expands, so can BoxDuke, thanks to the availability of both horizontal and vertical expansions.
The name of the BoxKing shall go before him, renowned for the quality with which he invests into his products.
BoxKing be praised.

The review totally nails how unstable those DIY cardboard towers get—my own collection is basically a Jenga game waiting to collapse. That “nub” design for stabilizing the columns during assembly sounds like a genius little detail that most companies would overlook. Honestly, might be worth grabbing one just to finally show off my games instead of hiding them in shame.
Honestly the part about the nubs stabilizing the columns while you screw everything together is exactly the kind of small detail that makes or breaks a build for me. Love that they thought of that.
Honestly, the story about the fiance’s mom discovering the tower of game boxes had me cracking up—I’ve definitely been judged for my own collection before. The part about those little nubs stabilizing the columns during assembly sounds like such a simple but genius design tweak. Might have to upgrade my own storage setup after reading this.
