FULLY FUNDED!
As a game master, you’ve experienced the dilemma. Do you unleash a monster’s full might on the players and risk seeming too aggressive? Or do you hold back and detract from the drama and accomplishment?
As a solo RPG player, an attacking monster can’t be very surprising without outside input, which defeats the purpose of the solo session.
Monster M.O. to the rescue!
Each of the 18 cards in the Monster M.O. deck describes a motivation such as hunger, violence, or a territorial nature. Then it details specific actions for foes, such as a charge, sneak attack, retreat, attempt at capture, or use of skills. Flowcharts indicate strategy changes the monster will make based on health, player choices, and other situations.
Though designed for use with Lone Wilderlands, 5e, and other RPGs, Monster M.O. doesn’t create new game mechanics. It creates a story. It emulates what a monster may do if another player were the brains behind its actions. I’ve also found the cards useful as imagination prompts for designing adventures and writing fiction.
